I built a Coffee Mug Rack for Skye’s Christmas gift. My sister Jenny said she liked it a lot so I built a second one for her birthday! This time, the openings were slightly larger to accommodate bigger mugs, and the stain darker.
This is the finish product with a mug I bought her from our favorite Sega game: Toe Jam and Earl.
My house has 2 beams that run through the entire upstairs to hold the roof up. I decided to make a 3rd “fake beam” to run through the center of the ceiling with recessed lighting.

I found some 4” (actually 3.5”) wide thin tongue and groove panels from Lowe’s that came with an insanely cheap price tag - 6x 8’ panels for $15. I tore down some old 4’x8’ painted wood paneling from my bedroom ceiling and installed these planks using 1” tack pins and Liquid Nails adhesive. I love the final result that next summer I’ll be redoing my entire upstairs with these planks.
My house had some ceramic tiles on the staircase risers that were… not my favorite. My mom had actually come up with the idea when I first bought the house to cut pieces to fit from a quarter inch sheet of Lauan plywood and stain and seal it - Two years later I finally did it!
In a follow up to my DIY Overwatch Themed Desk, I really wanted to do something else with the Mercy ultimate/resurrect stencil I made. For under $25 in raw materials, I made a 6”x6” Mercy resurrection icon etched acrylic block and custom 2x4 wood stand.
I repaired these chairs for my friend Lauren that had been broken by some of her roommates fat friends - these chairs can only hold so much weight. This is what the chairs looked like when she gave them to me. Luckily, the repair was simple enough because the seats themselves were just quarter inch plywood cut into a circle with roughly a 12” diameter.
I have been absolutely hooked on Overwatch for the past couple of weeks - I haven’t had this much fun playing a PC game since StarCraft Brood War or Minecraft. I’ve been mostly playing on my iMac running Windows through bootcamp. While it worked, it could really only handle medium graphics setting at around 40 FPS. For a long time I’ve toyed with the idea of building a “rig” - a new PC specifically for gaming. Now that I finally have the game I want to play, that was all the justification I needed.
I built a new PC, and at the same time also made a new Overwatch themed desk for the PC to go in my room.
